Five petty offense citations were issued to retailers in violation. The only store that was inspected and found to be in compliance was the Quick-Check Shell Market, located at 26 Main Street. "The Quartzsite Police Department would like to give the store special recognition for their compliance," said Chief Jeff Gilbert. The coordinated effort was intended to monitor compliance with state laws which prohibit the sale of tobacco products to minors. In all, six retailers in Quartzsite were inspected, and all but one was found to be in violation when cigarettes were purchased by a minor.
